Worth Another Listen - Boy Meets Girl

It was 1985, and George Merrill and Amy Rubicam were a hot songwriting duo. They were writing hits for others, like How Will I Know and I Wanna Dance With Somebody for Whitney, as well as songs for Deniece Williams and Bette Midler. They were also married and just cute as a button. After doing many demos of their own material, they decided to put out their own record. In 1991, they put out Reel Life, and the hit single was Waiting For A Star To Fall.

Despite divorcing at the beginning of the new millennium, Merrill and Rubicam have continued to work together, releasing their latest CD in 2003, The Wonderground. While they never really repeated the success of Waiting For A Star To Fall, but continue to work nonetheless. You can check them out on their website here.

  1. I like the song, but this seems over-produced or something.

  2. Pop on the whole in that timeframe tended to be overproduced.

  3. Love this song! Remember it well - it was one of those many pop songs that stuck on my head and kept singing even unknowingly!
